Topic: Intellectual Property Risk Management and Risk Transfer - Hype or Fiction?
Speaker: Karl Pedersen, Senior Vice President, Marsh

Management of intellectual assets (IA) is an important element of strategic corporate management that is constantly increasing in significance. Intellectual assets are no different from physical assets in the sense that they need to be managed in order to generate profits. As patents are created, transacted, divested, litigated and strategically managed more frequently, the risk and value that corporate senior management and boards must monitor and take responsibility for are greater than ever before. The growing challenge of adapting industrial-age financial practice to the knowledge economy raises several questions: what risks and opportunities do they uniquely present? Is insurance even relevant?
