Presentation:
Frank Williamson will discuss networking tips for successfully marketing your financial expertise, including the types of questions to ask prospective clients/employers to learn about a company’s financial challenges and how to nurture a relationship once an opportunity arises so that the end result is a "yes."

Speaker's bio:
Frank Williamson founded Oaklyn Consulting in 2016 to provide strategic advice, counsel and project management for Southeastern U.S. businesses considering the best ways to fund growth, succession or the liquidity needs of their owners. Oaklyn Consulting is unique in that it takes a consultant's, rather than broker's, approach to providing investment, corporate finance and investment banking advice.

Before Oaklyn Consulting, Frank served as managing partner of FourBridges Capital Advisors, a middle-market mergers and acquisitions firm, from 2013-2016. He served as interim chief operating officer of venture-capital-funded Vets First Choice in 2011-2012, where he was primarily responsible for closing and integrating the acquisition of a competitor.

Frank served in a range of management and finance roles at Unum Group and its predecessor companies from 1995-2010, mostly as the company's internal investment banker. His experience at Unum included completing more than $7 billion in financing transactions; negotiating and integrating large and small M&A transactions; coordinating the response to an activist investor; managing strategic planning for the company's operations and capitalization; managing product pricing and, for small- and mid-sized business customers, underwriting; and managing the company's business planning, corporate development, treasury and investment functions, including guiding the company's $40 billion investment portfolio through the Credit Crisis of 2008-2009.

Frank began his career at Morgan Stanley & Co. He earned a bachelor's degree from Williams College and a MBA from Harvard Business School.

In the community, Frank serves as trustee and investor committee chairman of LaunchTN; on the steering committee for the Aspen Institute Socrates Program; and on the endowment committee of the University of Chattanooga Foundation. He has previously been trustee and board president of the Portland Stage Company, a professional theater in Portland, Maine; and trustee and board chairman of the Tennessee Aquarium.

After an arduous 18-month campaign, I was elected (ok, volun-told) Chapter Chair for Charleston. I’m a Green Card-carrying Canadian who has been recommended by 4 out of 5 people who recommend things. I’m a CPA, CMA who moved to Texas in August 2011 to take on the VP Finance (divisional CFO, with North American scope) role with my company, Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope.

As a Global Finance and Operations Executive, I leverage my expertise in finance, operations, IT and leadership to streamline inefficiencies, reduce costs, and transform cultures, contributing to long-term ROI and value. A strategic advisor to senior management, I partner across an organization building the relationships that overcome barriers, consolidate processes and systems and eradicate silos. My background includes diverse experience in entertainment, construction and consumer goods industries. International experience includes working closely with European-based management and IT teams.

I relocated to Charleston in August 2016 to join Hill-Rom, as Director of Finance (divisional CFO, for Trumpf Medical North America). I have a beautiful wife (Susan) and two beautiful daughters (Ella, 10 yrs old in 5th grade; and Maya, 8 yrs old in 3rd grade).

When the Most Interesting Man in the World met Jim, HE held the door for HIM!
