Assistant Controller






  • Supervise the training and development of at least 6 accounting staff, including providing the staff with the necessary guidance and training to fulfill their job responsibilities and giving them regular feedback on their job performance.




  • Responsible for performing and overseeing various tasks related to the month end close, including booking journal entries, preparing variance analysis and reconciling balance sheet accounts, financial statement preparation




  • Profit/Loss Analysis, revenue analysis, ad-hoc reporting, cash flow analysis




  • Provide advice and guidance as necessary in preparing and analyzing timely and accurate financial reports and executing appropriate responsive actions




  • Provides advice and assistance to the VP/General Manager in analyzing and interpreting financial data and reports




  • Lead the monthly closing process to ensure that accurate and timely information is provided for both corporate financial reporting and operating cost control.




  • Provide timely and accurate cost analysis, sound financial advice and counsel to operating management to assist in minimizing manufacturing costs and meeting plant objectives.  This includes an analysis of variances from budget and forecasts.




  • Prepare the annual budget and required forecasts. This includes providing analysis and interpretation of financial and statistical data to operating management and by working closely with plant personnel to establish cost forecasts representing good normal operating conditions.




  • Be a business partner to the VP/General Manager, anticipating business/performance issues and directing attention to these issues/opportunities ahead of time as well as lead/support the effort mitigating or exploiting them.




  • Provide accounting support for all levels of the business.




  • Provide effective leadership to operating finance team, including coaching and development to ensure strong team and individual performance.




  • Monitor capital spending versus plan and forecast. 




  • Review and approve all capital A/R’s submitted for management approval and maintain financial records on capital projects.




  • Ensure application of established financial controls within area of responsibility by effective implementation and maintenance of financial corporate policies and procedures.




  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality performance by adopting a customer-based philosophy in the level of service provided.




  • Assist with the preparation and/or review of the financial analyses of proposed projects to permit sound business decisions and to evaluate the results of completed capital appropriations.




  • Report on monthly cost variances to plan, forecasts and prior year with volume and mix details.




  • Ensure consistency in reporting of costing standards.




  • Ensure balance sheet accounts are accurate and reconciled as required.

REQUIREMENTS:





  • 7 - 10 years of experience in accounting function

  • BA / BS degree in accounting or finance

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills, 3 - 5 years management experience preferred

  • Strong U.S. GAAP technical accounting background
