Speaker's bio:
Matthew Mapes (age 36) is currently the SVP, Director of SBA Market Development for Sunflower Bank, a Denver based regional community bank with approximately $7 billion in assets. Matthew has been in the banking industry for 17 years and spent the past 8 years specializing in SBA lending. He is responsible for leading the development and growth of Small Business Administration (SBA) lending bank wide. Matthew has an extensive knowledge of the U.S. Small Business Administration and commercial lending and he enjoys learning about businesses and assisting companies gain access to capital. Matthew was the recipient of the 2015 U.S. Small Business Administration Arizona Financial Services Champion award, awarded the 2019 national Coleman SBA BDO of the year award, and nominee for Arizona’s 2021 40 under 40.
Matthew hails from mid-Michigan and holds an associate’s degree in weld engineering and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northwood University, where he graduated magna cum laude. He is actively involved with several non-profits and numerous forms of community volunteering.
Matthew enjoys motor sports, outdoor activities, and spending time with his wife Ashley and their three dogs, Harley, Yute, and Bentley.
