Philadelphia Job Club Start UP meeting

A FENG Job Club is an intensive forum for interested and highly motivated “active” members (those who are currently unemployed and actively looking for their next opportunity) to hold each other accountable for making progress in their job searches. They are designed to accelerate the time it takes for participates to land a job. Job clubs are not one-off networking events or a substitute for Chapter or SIG meetings, which participants are still expected to attend.

Job Clubs meet weekly for about two hours, are self-managed with one or two members acting as chairs, and consist of 6-10 members. While all job clubs follow the same overarching framework, a wide range of approaches is used. Members are expected to devote at least 20-30 hours a week on their searches.

The objective of the Job Club is to support each member through accountability to each other, empathy and strategizing to make participants the very best prepared and polished candidate they can be. For the Club to be effective, each member will have to come with a positive attitude and be open to constructive feedback and suggestions. Among the activities are interview and elevator pitch practice, evaluation of cover letters, resumes and pitches, strategies for finding opportunities, follow up and networking, sharing of leads and contacts.

There are currently 7 job clubs in the tri-state area within commutable distance of New York City. The most recent club Westchester County started in mid-June. Our goal is to have a 70% success rate for landing full-time/interim/consulting assignments.

In the 4th quarter of 2019, the 3 clubs active at the time had 18 members land. Year to date, the 6 active clubs have had 20 members find employment through July 2020.

We will send you the Zoom meeting invite and ID after you register on the FENG website.
