Attention and Distraction -   
A sprint through changing entertainment consumption habits, and the financial implications for players in the industry
Changing consumer habits will alter the media and entertainment landscape in the years to come. Leaning on academic and survey research, Professor Offenberg will explore patterns observed in other industries to make predictions about which types of firms are likely to thrive in the years ahead.

Speaker  
Dr. David Offenberg is the world’s only tenured finance professor specializing in film & TV.  He is an Associate Professor in the College of Business Administration at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.  His alumni work across the industry, at all of the major studios, and a wide variety of other firms that finance, create, and distribute entertainment properties. Dr. Offenberg won the world’s most prestigious teaching award for finance professors in 2018, the Financial Management Association’s Innovation in Teaching Award. He is frequently quoted in the press, with recent mentions on CNBC, Entertainment Weekly, Marketplace, NPR, Observer, Vanity Fair, and The Wrap.  He also provides financial and analytical consulting services to independent filmmakers and studios.  His first book is scheduled to be released this fall.  Dr. Offenberg received his Ph.D. in finance from Purdue University.
