Agenda:

On Monday, November 11th at 4PM Eastern, I will be interviewing Peggy Bud and Tamara Jacobson about their new book, Conversations Lead to Consensus.

What we will be discussing

How many times have you sat in a meeting or engaged in what was supposed to be a conversation, and what was really happening is everyone was delivering a monologue. Conversations and productive meetings must be dialogues.

Peggy and Tamara will provide you with tips and strategies for having productive meetings and real conversations.

My wife Peggy Bud and her co-author Tamara Jacobson wrote an amazing book, Conversations Lead to Consensus that uses their original conceptual framework, the 5-C Model of Communication: Conversations, Collaboration, Cooperation, Compromise as the path to Consensus.

Whether you are trying to build a productive team or have a constructive conversation with a colleague, their framework will provide you with an easy way to have effective conversations that lead to successful communication. They will share with you tips on how to co-create solutions and effectively navigate the different points of view on a team.

Peggy and Tamara will discuss each of the components and how together they will ensure meetings are productive and everyone feels that their voices are heard, considered and respected. By using their model, model teams can reach consensus, which they see as everyone agreeing to support the decision. Often through this method, creative solutions are developed through effective conversations, which without the conversations, no one would have even considered the idea. Reaching consensus during the decision-making process or during a difficult conversation, avoids majority rules decision making or top-down decision making, which always leaves an unhappy minority.

Reviewers of their book noted that Peggy and Tamara cracked the code for having productive meetings, one-conversation at a time. This methodology can be used across all industries and is also applicable during professional and personal conversations. Their strategy enhances effective communication skills, fosters strong partnerships, and cultivates corporate buy-in, by steering teams toward collaborative success.
