Recognizing energy sustainability has increased in impact, as companies look for incentives on reducing their carbon footprint. In this event, we aim to highlight the objectives and the processes of 4 industry-leading organizations, in their plans for the Future of the Energy Industry.
Renewable Energy Houston aims to foster new relationships with its existing clientele while improving the visibility of the renewable energy industry. This can be done through connecting thought leaders, growing the network of renewable energy industry professionals, and promoting innovation.
Greentown Labs was founded with the notion of realizing public action, and
they've developed their mission statement emphasizing solving the climate crisis through entrepreneurship and collaboration. Everyday activities, surrounding corporate and personal settings should be reimagined with an emphasis on energy conservation. They aim to be the leading hub where people worldwide congregate to work toward the shared goal of a sustainable, renewable future.
The Nigeria Climate Innovation Centre recognizes the need for a greener nation, by providing support to prominent industry sectors. Much of their mission is dedicated to changing the current landscape for environmentally-centered job opportunities and advocating for a greener economy for Nigeria.
Unlocking Innovation excels in its incubator program, which is targeted to provide early-stage companies access to mentorship, investors and other support to help them get established; eligible startups must have strategic focuses oriented towards taking action on climate change.
LACI is also committed to creating a cleantech community that perpetuates inclusivity in sustaining its mission; people belonging to visible minority groups are entitled to being on a platform where their voices are heard.

Juliana Garaizar | Head of Houston Incubator | VP of Innovation | Greentown Labs Houston | North America’s largest Climatetech incubator
A Kauffman Fellow and Board Member of the Angel Capital Association, Juliana is a Lead Investor of the Portfolia Rising America Fund, Consumer Fund, and Rising Tide Fund. She is the President of the Business Angel Minority Association and an Advisory Board Member of the Cougar Venture Fund and the Houston Diversity Fund. Juliana was the Director of the Texas Medical Center Venture Fund and the Managing Director of the Houston Angel Network.
She was the Manager of the Sophia Business Angels network in the French Riviera and of Antipolis Innovation Campus, as well as Project Manager of several International Projects funded by the European Commission. Previously, Juliana worked for 5 years in Singapore: first as an International Trade Consultant for the Trade Commission of Spain in a broad range of industry sectors and then as a Project Manager for the Asia Technology Office of Citigroup, leading projects at the international level. Juliana obtained an MBA at the London Business School, specializing in Entrepreneurship.

Most recently served as CEO in a private equity-backed wind energy company, but with big public company credentials. Currently leading the launch of the Renewable Energy Alliance - Houston, a non-profit group formed to connect, promote and grow the renewable energy industry in the Greater Houston area.
Alex Mitchell | SVP of Unlocking Innovation | Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI)
Alex Mitchell is the SVP of Unlocking Innovation at Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI), where he oversees startup recruitment, incubation programs, and LACI's investments via its Impact Fund and Debt Fund. Outside of LACI, he authors a weekly newsletter called Su$tainable Mobility on investing in sustainable mobility.
Alex joined LACI from Groupe PSA (now Stellantis) in Paris where he was VP of Corporate Strategy, co-leading the company’s acquisition of Opel from General Motors and leading the company's work on autonomous mobility. Previously he headed the automotive automotive industry vertical at the World Economic Forum, with a focus on autonomous mobility. Alex has also served VP of retail sales at an LA-based EV startup Coda Automotive, and worked at Toyota Europe and McKinsey.
Alex is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he obtained an MBA from the Wharton School and an MA from the School of Arts and Sciences as Fellow of the Lauder Institute Global MBA program. He holds a BA from Stanford University. His rescue dog makes frequent guest appearances on his Zoom calls.
Bankole Oloruntoba | CEO | Nigeria Climate Innovation Center (NCIC)
Bankole was nominated as the Honorary Consul to the Government of Finland to strengthen the cultural and business relationship between Nigeria and Finland.
Bankole is the Founder of the Network of Incubators and Innovators in Nigeria (NINe) and was the Founding Incubation Center Manager of Enspire Business Incubator, a technology-focused business incubation center under the Abuja Technology Village. He started, developed, and managed the Abuja Tech Ecosystem for 5years since inception in 2013 up until 2018 to create a structured community for innovation-driven entrepreneurs to get the much-needed support as required by startups and also serve as an example of how an ecosystem should be built including serving as a resource pool for the enspire Incubator and other accelerators. In 2018 he was appointed a Member of the Presidential Advisory Council on Technology and Creativity.
In the course of his, work Bankole is currently developing the ecosystem for the emerging Nigerian Green Economy. Managing stakeholders towards building a vibrant and viable green Economy fit for scale and FDI
He is a Co-Founder of Startup Arewa – A startup ecosystem development platform in the Northern Region of Nigeria where he grew up and a thought leader in the area of innovation-driven Startups and Entrepreneurship ecosystems in Nigeria/West Africa. He currently advises over a dozen hubs, innovation, and Startup related Convergences across Nigeria/West Africa.
