TOPIC: “Changing the Way Leaders Engage in Economic Development:
Seven Trends”

SPEAKER: Don Upton

Don Upton is a public affairs and economic development expert, who served in leadership positions in three Fortune 500s and a global consultancy. He leads complex teams of fiduciaries and professionals during periods of technological and market disruption.

Upton re-imagined strategic philanthropy and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in two of the nation’s largest essential services corporations to drive results in education reform, economic competitiveness and regionalism. He has been trusted with over $3 billion in projects and moderated think tanks and summits before over 20 thousand leaders. His FII Enterprise Goals Model continues to be utilized to foster collaboration and decisive, measurable change in the public, private and independent sectors.
Anticipating the fast-paced convergence of strategy, CSR and communications in board rooms and operations, Upton built his personal competencies in law, advocacy and media affairs, and earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina. He is a member of: The American Bar Association and its Forum on Affordable Housing & Community Development Law and Section on Public Utility, Communications & Trans-portation Law; The Federal Communications Bar Association; South Carolina Bar Associa¬tion; and The Public Relations Society of America – Charlotte Chapter.

Monthly chapter meetings are usually on the second Monday of the month, are casual and generally last an hour providing members time for 1:1 networking or small group gatherings for dinner or cocktails afterwards.

We would like to spend the first 30 to 60 minutes doing our rounds of introductions and network leads and then adjourn to a mutually agreed upon location for adult beverages and conversation.
