Moderator: Don Minges
Don Minges has over twenty-five years of leadership experience in Management and Finance: including venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, consulting, strategic planning, economic forecasting and profitability enhancement. He led an equity investment that resulted in profits in excess of $400 million. He has led projects in a wide array of businesses and has served as the CFO in several industries and currently is a fractional, or part-time, CFO. He has served on the Board of Directors of many firms. Don is also principal at www.TheKnowledgeInstitute.com, dedicated to keynote presentations, training, workshops and executive education. Don has led presentations in thirty-three states and internationally. Mr. Minges holds a B.S. from North Carolina State University and was named a Fuqua Scholar, graduating with highest honors, at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University with an M.B.A.

Mike Airheart
Mike Airheart has nearly 33 years of wholesale banking experience with Bank of America Merrill Lynch (“BofAML”). During his last 15 years with BofAML, Mike served as a Managing Director, Senior Corporate Banker within the Investment Banking division’s, Global Industrials Group in a relationship management/business development/ corporate finance advisory role. Mike retired from BofAML in December, 2016.
In late 2017, Mike joined a newly formed, management consulting practice known as Eagle Marsh Consulting, LLC (“EMC”), owned by Eagle Marsh Holdings, LLC (“EMH”), a now two-year old, private investment management firm (family office) formed by a former client who was Chairman/CEO of a publicly-traded Industrial company based in Charlotte, NC. As well, Mike offers investment diligence and business development services to the partners of EMH in developing an investment opportunity pipeline within the Industrials’ asset class.

In early 2019, Mike joined Quartix Finance, Inc. as an Ambassador Advisor, offering business development services for this emerging, FinTech, digital, Supply Chain Finance platform to assist in the buildout of their midcap/middle market, commercial customer base, as well as, develop bank partner affiliations. Mike joined the Quartix Finance Advisory Board in July, 2019.
Mike graduated from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. with a Bachelor of Science with special attainments in Commerce. He received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Memphis, Memphis, Tn.

Mike is married with two children and four grandchildren. He and his wife live in Charlotte, NC. He serves on the board of Charlotte based Child Care Resources, Inc., a not for profit, child care advocacy group for families in need, as Co-Chair of the Marketing Committee and a former Vice Chairman. He also serves as Leader of the Charlotte Chapter of the Private Directors Association (“PDA”, a member based, not for profit organization). The national PDA advocates for the establishment of independent, fiduciary and advisory boards of directors of privately-held companies to enhance governance/long term company value. The PDA educates members through program events throughout the year in a panelist/moderator format. The PDA also serves as an intermediary in sourcing private company Board seat opportunities for members.

Gary Frey
Gary Frey is a connector, McGyver, & confidant. He loves helping coachable CEOs and their management teams scale, align, focus, execute & have more fun. He has served as president of four successful companies, including Bizjournals.com, a business news portal which he helped transform from a three-person organization to a $100 million company. He has done two turnarounds & held executive positions in two Fortune 100 companies.

Gary has served clients including Bank of America, British Aerospace, Cessna Aircraft, Coca-Cola, Coleman, Compass Group, DaimlerChrysler, DuPont, First Union/Wachovia, Foot Locker, Hearst Publishing, Krylon, the Lance Armstrong Foundation, Learjet, McDonald’s, Monsanto, NCR, Sherwin-Williams, Summerfield Suites Hotels, Torrent Consulting, United Way, World T.E.A.M. Sports, and Yokohama Tire Corporation.

He is a triathlete, drummer, father of two grown sons, “Papa” to three of the smartest & cutest little boys on the planet and married to the wife of his dreams.

Suzanne Schultz
Suzanne is a Partner at Vaco where she heads Vaco Charlotte’s permanent placement practice that places med-to-high level finance and accounting executives. Prior to joining Vaco, she was with PWC in their audit practice. Suzanne earned her undergraduate degree from Appalachain State University and her Masters from NC State.

Tom Maupin
Tom was a Partner at Vaco for 12 years and is currently Vaco’s Ambassador. He is the Chairman of the Charlotte Chapter of FENG and a fanatical networker. Prior to joining Vaco in 2005, he had a multiple decade career in banking including 10 years in international banking heading offices in Tokyo and Singapore. Tom earned his undergraduate degree from Rice University in Houston.

Monthly chapter meetings are usually on the second Monday of the month, are casual and generally last an hour providing members time for 1:1 networking or small group gatherings for dinner or cocktails afterwards.

We would like to spend the first 30 to 60 minutes doing our rounds of introductions and network leads and then adjourn to a mutually agreed upon location for adult beverages and conversation.
