Moderator: Tom Maupin
Tom was a Partner at Vaco for 12 years and is currently Vaco’s Ambassador. He is the Chairman of the Charlotte Chapter of FENG and a fanatical networker. Prior to joining Vaco in 2005, he had a multiple decade career in banking including 10 years in international banking heading offices in Tokyo and Singapore. Tom earned his undergraduate degree from Rice University in Houston.

Jeremy Brinkerhoff
Jeremy is a Partner with CFGI, with over 14 years of experience providing accounting advisory and transaction services to public and private companies ranging from development stage to Fortune 500 and spanning the life sciences, technology, manufacturing, energy, retail, and consumer products industries. Jeremy’s significant experience has been supporting clients with complex technical accounting and SEC reporting matters, particularly related to business combinations, acquisition integration, complex lease accounting, revenue recognition, stock compensation, consolidation, recurring quarterly and annual SEC filings, policy documentation, and other technical accounting areas.

Jeremy is prominent in the Firm’s subject matter expert quality reviews for business combinations, complex leases, and revenue recognition. Jeremy has extensive experience assisting clients and leading engagement teams with their implementations of the new accounting standards for revenue recognition (ASC 606/ IFRS 15) and leasing (ASC 842/ IFRS 16), beginning with scoping and software selection and extending to day-one calculations, financial reporting and audit support. In addition to client responsibilities, Jeremy regularly speaks at accounting conferences across the U.S. related to ASC 842/ IFRS 16 and ASC 606/ IFRS 15, and delivers internal and external trainings across a variety of topics.

Prior to joining CFGI, Jeremy was a manager of technical accounting at a multibillion dollar global healthcare device company that included complex technical accounting and acquisition accounting and integration. Additionally, he is an alumnus of PwC’s audit practice based in Boston. Jeremy is a CPA in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Jeremy is a graduate of the University of Utah.

Joe Oringel
Joe Oringel is a Managing Director at Visual Risk IQ, a risk advisory firm established in 2006 to help finance and internal audit professionals see and understand their data. The firm has completed more than 200 successful data analytics and visual reporting engagements for a variety of business processes, including identification of suspected leases requiring disclosure under ASC 842. The firm is known for its on-the-job coaching and knowledge transfer, particularly with visual analytics software like Tableau and PowerBI.

Joe has more than twenty-five years of experience in internal auditing, fraud detection, and forensics, including ten years of Big Four assurance and risk advisory services. He earned a BS in Accounting from Louisiana State University, where he took classes in their acclaimed Internal Auditing program. Joe later graduated from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned an MBA. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor and a past president and Board Member of the Charlotte Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Monthly chapter meetings are usually on the second Monday of the month, are casual and generally last an hour providing members time for 1:1 networking or small group gatherings for dinner or cocktails afterwards.

We would like to spend the first 30 to 60 minutes doing our rounds of introductions and network leads and then adjourn to a mutually agreed upon location for adult beverages and conversation.
