Is Your Company Prepared for the New Trade Sanctions Era?
The latest penalties for violating trade sanctions can be severe and include monetary fines reaching into the millions. Individuals convicted of sanction violations can serve up to 30 years in prison. There are recent concerns that U.S. products are being used by the Russian military and source companies manufacturing and selling products found in weapons of war may at a minimum be questioned and, in some cases, found to have violated a sanction by providing these products.
The Department of Justice has recently added over 25 new prosecutors focused on sanctions and export control violations. Whistleblower protections have also been extended for those exposing sanctions violations. With sanctions becoming the new FCPA, it is important to ensure that your exports and imports comply with ever-increasing sanctions.
Come listen to Cindy Nowacki Weaver, Senior VP and Office of Foreign Assets Control ("OFAC") Officer at KeyBank, and John Kane, Compliance Manager and VP at KeyBank inform and answer questions on how you and your business may need to add additional risk controls around trade sanctions violations.
