Meeting Announcement – Investor Relations SIG
Greetings. My name is Jon Peisner, and I am a new Co-Chair of the FENG’s Investor Relations Special Interest Group. (SIG)
While my bio is listed in our SIG’s directory, at a high level, I’m a senior level investor relations executive with 30 years of investor relations experience. I’ve led / established / rejuvenated IR programs for companies in the automotive supplier, automotive remarketing and retail industries. I’m a member of NIRI and a former member of the NIRI Senior Roundtable Steering Committee and have conducted investor relations seminars for NIRI and written articles for IR Update Magazine.
My goal for getting involved in the FENG’s IR SIG is 3-fold; 1) I get to do something I love as I have a passion for IR, 2) I want to “give back” and I believe giving my time to help group members keep their IR knowledge up to date is critical, and 3) Self-promotion (Hey, need to be honest here), as I have my own IR consulting practice; Value Creation Value Protection LLC; www.vcvpllc.com.
I’m excited to announce we will be kicking off monthly meetings again and on January 20th, we will be doing this with a great guest speaker! (I guess as an IR guy I should sandbag it and say fairly good speaker, ha-ha). In any event, Gary Prestopino is a Vice President and Senior Research Analyst at Chicago based Barrington Research Associates and I’m also happy to say that he’s a long-time friend. (His complete bio is attached to this announcement.)
Gary’s topic for the meeting will be, “Sell-side Analyst Pet Peeves – Do This, Not This” and given that year-end earnings season is right around the corner, I can’t think of a timelier topic for us.
Speaker Bio:
Gary Prestopino is Vice President and Senior Research Analyst at Barrington Research Associates, and is also a portfolio manager at Barrington Asset Management, serving on its Investment Committee. He has nearly 30 years of investment experience as a portfolio manager and equity research analyst. His research focus is within the Business Services sector. He joined Barrington in January 2001.
Mr. Prestopino previously served as Director of Research for Mesirow Financial and as Senior Vice President, Director of Business Services Research for Tucker Anthony in Chicago. He is also a member of The Investment Analyst Society of Chicago. He has received numerous awards during his career, and was previously named to The Wall Street Journal’s “Best on the Street” analyst survey in 2001 and 2005 for his industry coverage of Business and Industrial Services.
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Ithaca College, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from Tulane University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
