The re-emergence of Sanatan economics:

Adam Smith’s capitalism has managed to give us 60% divorces, loneliness ministries hyper-consumerism, and prescription drug life. Karl Marx's Communism has managed to give us a 60% slave population, freebies politics, a surveillance state and aimless crowds deprived of duties and a void of trust and direction required for a living civilization to continue till eternity.

Why is the world taught that there are only two economic models? The World’s first literature on governance covering portions of economics – the Arthashashtra is from Bharat which had a magnificent economic set-up for 1700 years of the past 2000 years of human history.

Why is it that the two economic models – capitalism and communism, do not mention the word 'family' even once in their theories? Even a small kid can tell you that every single economic decision is a family decision and, by default, carries repercussions for the entire family unit. One should not be surprised to see that the Family structure is in crisis in the United States and other parts of the World like China with its ageing population, divorces and falling birth rates.

Capitalism bases itself on an individual as the smallest unit of economics. To the supporters of this model, the world is a market, and profits are at the core of every action, whether humane or not. Communism bases itself on the aimless crowd as the smallest unit of economics. To the supporters of this model, the pride of identity, history, origin, dharmas or religions are opium, and only the mob objectives of forced equality in outcomes is what matters. Both the models follow one life belief of consumption with zero sense of furthering the civilisation or culture.

Sanatan economics bases itself on a family unit as the smallest unit of economics. This is the model that needs to be dug up from the Ancient India lifestyle. It relies on the consolidation of incomes and the least per member expense (split). It stands on a continuing-enterprising society led by an upper ceiling cap on profits by dharmas and joint family succession of accumulated savings as the generational corpus for the future life cycles.

All the major problems of the world are somehow linked to capitalism, causing toxic individualism, and communism causing toxic state control. Both models are nothing but outsourcing of the family sacrifices outside of a family unit. And since the sacrifices are shifted out of the emotional bonds of a family, it turns out to be brutal exploitation experiences for whoever happens to be the victim for sustaining these flawed models.

What is the basic difference between Abrahamic Economics & Sanatan Economics? One life vs. Life Cycles

Rest of the world is in chaos rooting from the Abrahamic thought process that thinks you are the body (with one life) and soul is just a vehicle, whereas Indian dharmas say that you are the soul with life cycles and the body is just a vehicle. This is why the rest of the world follows the consumption and spending model of life, whereby in this only life, it is important to consume and win. The concept of taking over finite natural resources, influencing, controlling and consuming comes from this root thought of the body and, by extension, tangible ambitions, being considered as the prime importance.

The challenge for present-day India is to resurrect a Sanatan Economics model to Save the Soul of the World from the body.

Speaker's bio:  
Dr Ankit Shah is a Fellow of the ICAI in 2011, and is also qualified Company Secretary of the ICSI in 2012.  He also qualified in his doctorate of philosophy, Ph.D. in February 2022 from Gujarat National Law University (NIRF Ranking 7 in 2023), with his thesis of Doctoral Research on: “Impact of E-commerce on Offline trade - A study in the light of Indian Competition Law and Consumer Protection Law Regime” . Further professional qualifications are Masters of Commerce (Business Policy & Corporate Governance) – from IGNOU in 2016 and Diploma in Information Systems Audit – ICAI in 2016. He is also certified by Australian Skills Qualification Authority as Leadership & Management, Business & Accountancy Subject Matter Expert, and certified by TAFE NSW Australia on Training & Assessment. Also a Fellow on International Human Rights - 2022

He was born at Chennai, educated at Surat and presently practising as a consultant in Ahmedabad for over 13 years. Primarily he is advising various clients in the matters of audit, project analysis, e-commerce modeling, brand strategy, instructional design and curriculum strategy.
