Speaker’s bio:

Dr. CA. Abhishek Murali (Abishek) is a qualified chartered accountant of ICAI, having completed  his articleship training with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC).  He has also completed his Graduation and Post Graduation in Commerce from Madras University. Special qualifications include  DISA from ICAI, CISA from ISACA (USA) and CIMA from CIMA (London). He has also graduated in law (LLB).  He has secured an All India 1st Rank holder in the CIMA Strategy Examinations and the 17th All India rank in the Final Examinations. 

Abhishek has also completed his Advance Diploma in International Taxation with CIOT (London) and secured the All India 5th Rank in the International Taxation Examinations (ADIT) conducted by CIOT. Further he obtained certification in International Tax Law and Transfer Pricing from Leiden University, Netherlands,, International Tax Center, under the guidance of the world renowned Professor Kees Van Raad. Abhishek has also completed his MBA & has attended several special sessions at Harvard University. 

After qualifying as a chartered accountant, Abhishek went on to work with KPMG in the Transaction Advisory, Mergers and Acquisition division, on various national and international engagements. Now Dr. CA. Abhishek Murali is a Practising Chartered Accountant at Chennai and a Partner of M/s. VICTOR GRACE & CO., Chartered Accountants, Chennai, India. His expertise in particular is in Direct Taxation, International Taxation, Litigation/Appeals, Valuations, Due Diligence & Mergers & Acquisition.

1) Secretary of the Southern India Regional Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (SIRC of ICAI) for the year 2020-2021. 

2) Youngest elected Regional Council Member of the Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, for 2 terms in succession for the periods of 6 years viz. 2016-2019 & 2019-2022

3) Youngest Elected Secretary of the SIRC of ICAI and secured for SIRC won the ‘BEST REGION AWARD’ of the ICAI

Authorship:

Dr. CA. Abhishek Murali has authored more than 10 books of Professional Interest, including the Income Tax Ready Referencer, Taxation of Capital Gains, Overview of Companies Act, 2013 & Commentary on Prohibition Of Benami Property Transactions Act, among others. His book on ‘Overview of the Companies Act, 2013’ was well received in the corporate circle. His books ‘Income Tax Ready Referencer’ and ‘Taxation of Capital Gains’ are extensively used by Professionals and Government Officials alike.

Dr. CA. Abhishek Murali has organised and spoken at more than 3200 seminars, workshops and conferences. He regularly appears on National and Regional TV Channels and contributes articles of professional interest in various Newspapers and Journals.

1) Felicitated with the Gold Star Award by Padmashri Dr.Mylswamy Annadurai, Director ISRO Satellite Center, Moon Man of India (Project Director of Chandrayaan – 1 & 2) for addressing more than 500 Seminars during the Covid Period Alone. 

2) Awarded the ABRAHAM LINCOLN EXCELLENCE AWARD from The International Peace Council, USA for his excellence in the Tax Sector 

Hobbies & Other interests:

Ahishek is a Founding Board Member of the ARK Foundation, a not for profit which plays a key role in providing access to the under-privileged families access to quality medical treatment at affordable prices. Dr. CA. Abhishek Murali is also the President of the Rotary Club of Madras – Next Gen for the year 2023-24. Abhishek is very passionate about start-ups and mentors start-ups under a separate vertical of his firm. Abhishek is also a Freemason, and a Member  of Indian Heritage Cultural Society and a Life Member of YMCA. An active co-ordinator of the NGO Organisation ‘DEEPAM’ which strives for the growth and improvement of the slum children. An avid sportsman he plays Golf, Badminton, Squash, Football and Table Tennis and is a keen follower of the game of Football. Abhishek also regularly blogs and enjoys reading.
