John will share information, stories, and insights about working in Angola gained over the course of 3 years while he lived there as the CFO for Chevron's Southern Africa Strategic Business Unit. The focus of this material will be through the lens of the finance organization and will discuss various challenges faced across each of the primary functions in his organization including Tax, Treasury, Compliance, Accounting, and others. In addition, John will discuss the joys and challenges of living as an expat in Africa and the tremendous growth experience it became for him and his family.
Speaker's Bio:
John recently joined FENG and has 25 years of experience working within the energy industry. He graduated from the Ohio State University in 1995 with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and started his career at UOP LLC, an engineering technology company based in Chicago. While there. John became an expert in Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology and worked in more than 20 countries during his time with the company. John attended Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and started his finance career in 2003 after graduation when he joined Chevron Corporation based in San Ramon, California. During John's 17 year career with Chevron he held 13 different finance and treasury roles and moved 11 times including 3 international assignments including his time in Angola. Most recently he was the Assistant Treasurer, OpCo Financing in charge of global capital management for Chevron.
